Tummy or Trunk, Arms and Leg Contouring Options

September 29, 2011 @ 06:20 PM — by deankane

There are various options are for tummy or trunk, arms and leg contouring.

These options are dependent on your skin laxity and the areas of liposuction contouring you wish or need.

How can you tell whether you need Liposuction of the Abdomen or a Tummy Tuck?

How can you tell whether you need Liposuction of the Abdomen or a Tummy Tuck?

This is a very confusing area for many people. If someone just has a thickness and fullness of their abdomen, but mild skin laxity, then liposuction would be the appropriate procedure. Liposuction can be performed in a circumferential approach, so that fat is removed from the front of the abdomen, sides and back, or the whole trunk. This circular approach reduces the entire trunk, contours the shape and allows a person to fit into smaller size clothes.

Breast Lift / Augmentation and Reduction Options

September 22, 2011 @ 06:12 PM — by deankane

I would like to review the different breast lift / augmentation and reduction options:
1. a crescent lift to raise the areola

2. a donut lift will raise the areola, make it smaller and partially lift the breast

3. a vertical lift or mastopexy is used to further lift the breast as well as make the areola smaller

4. a traditional or "T" lift is necessary in larger women with more loss of volume to lift the breast

5. Any of these lifts can and are combined with a breast enlargement if desired using saline (salt water) or silicone gel implants

6. Some patients may wish to improve the contour along the side breast roll with liposuction

7. Breast reduction

What can be done about the upper back roll near the bra area?

September 22, 2011 @ 11:15 AM — by deankane
What can be done about the upper back roll near the bra area? Because of the 25 years of experience of performing after weight loss procedures, Dr. Kane has evolved a new technique that removes the excess back skin and rolls at the same time as an arm lift or breast lift procedure. The traditional procedure would remove this excess skin with an incision that goes across the back and hidden under the bra strap.  However, Dr. Kane has developed his technique by using an incision alongside the outer side of the breasts up to the armpit. The scars are well hidden and the back is free from showing any widening, thickening or unsightly scars. Strapless dresses are a true possibility without the added bulges and scars.

For the rejuvenation of the upper face, Dr. Dean Kane’s goal is to use injectables and chemical peels to refresh the eyes, brows and upper cheeks by not only plumping the wrinkles but using the TCA Peel to smooth and peel away old layers of fine lines and crepe skin.

At what point in my weight loss do I make the decision to have the Liposuction or Tummy Tuck procedures?

At what point in my weight loss do I make the decision to have the Liposuction or Tummy Tuck procedures?

The answer depends on your motivation and ability to lose the weight. We always recommend that a person lose as much weight as is comfortable until a plateau is reached, or the weight is just not coming off any longer.

Facial wrinkles are created from 4 different layers of the skin, fat and muscle.

September 13, 2011 @ 05:29 PM — by deankane

Facial wrinkles are created from 4 different layers of the skin, fat and muscle.

The top layer or stratum corneum is the rough, pigmented layer of the skin; creating most of the depth of the wrinkle.

Exfoliation is best for this using microdermabrasion, Retin-A (our Emerge' Skin Perfecting System), some lasers and chemical peels.

The second region is the epidermis and dermis which thin with aging. The natural collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid (which hydrate and toughen the

skin) are thickened by the use of fillers (Restylane and Juvederm) or Retin-A (Emerge' Skin Perfecting System).

The next layer or fat also thins or droops with age and maybe filled (Restylane and Juvederm) or redraped (thread, short-scar, traditional, endoscopic face / neck / brow lifts).

Finally, the muscle which creases the skin into wrinkles and folds is weakened and rebalanced with Botox.

Are there times when surgery is not recommended?

September 08, 2011 @ 11:16 AM — by deankane

Are there times when surgery is not recommended?

Yes! Cigarette smokers, malnutrition problems, and other medical conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes that prevent proper healing can present high risk for infection and non-healing. Once these conditions are controlled, surgery can be performed. We require a patient to stop smoking at least 4 weeks before the surgery and to not smoke or use nicotine products until fully healed which can take up to 3-6 months.

What can be done about the excess skin along the back as well as the front of the body?

What can be done about the excess skin along the back as well as the front of the body?

The Body Lift is a remarkable surgical procedure that tailors an overall tightening and skin reduction of the body. It achieves the lifting of the leg, buttocks, lower and upper back, and abdominal skin. The back rolls are smoothed and love handles and “muffin tops” are contoured. Everything above and below the circular scar is tightened and firmed.
