Face Lift, Neck Lift and Neck Suspension Surgery for Men

Face Lift, Neck Lift and Neck Suspension Surgery for Men
"MEN WANT" a strong jaw line, firm cheeks and a tight neck. While younger men tend to be concerned about the thickness of their necks, older gentlemen tend to focus on the excess skin laxity and looseness of their jaw line, jowls and necks.

The Neck Lift or Neck Suspension surgery for men is very effective to reduce the size and fullness of the neck without extensive surgery. Dr. Dean Kane himself has had the neck suspension surgery when he was in his mid-thirties. While Dr. Kane has always maintained his weight, he genetically had inherited a very full and thick neck in which he lacked a defined jaw line. This procedure involves Dr. Kane placing two tiny ¼ inch incisions placed behind each earlobe and an 1 inch incision right within the crease under the chin. These incisions are rarely ever seen. Dr. Kane creates a very masculine neck and jaw line by bringing together the muscles of the neck into a newly recreated tight neck structure. In most cases, the "Adams apple or thyroid cartilage is left prominent for the male patient. Dr. Kane uses lipo-contouring to remove the fat of the neck, along the lower jaw line and lower cheeks to thin and slim the entire lower face of his male patients. The younger male truly appreciates the newly contoured neck providing a much more handsome appearance. Often men appear as if they have lost weight due to the reduction of the fat removed from around the face and neck. Recovery requires a one to two week period. The biggest issue right after surgery is the inability to turn the head completely to drive a car. It usually takes two weeks before the neck relaxes and men can turn their heads adequately to safely drive to work.

Face and Neck Lift

In Dr. Dean Kane's Baltimore Plastic Surgery Practice of 25 years, he has performed many, many Face and Neck lifts on men. Interestingly the reasons why men choose to have their faces surgically rejuvenated are quite different from women. The most common reasons men seek their face and neck lift is most often due to divorce from their wives, being widowed, or the need to compete in a younger job market. In all these cases, men feel the need to look younger and more rejuvenated to get back into the dating world or compete effectively with their younger co-worker, specifically when it comes to a sales position.

When performing the Face and Neck Lift on men the strategic placement of the scars are crucial due to the short hair style and often balding situation for men. Dr. Kane performs a complete SMAS facelift meaning the muscles of the neck and face are re-draped into an upward position providing a tightening of the neck, jowls and cheeks. The cheeks are brought back up giving men their youthful appearance. The excess skin is removed through incisions that are placed inside the edge of the ear or the tragus and down the crease of the earlobe and around the back of the ear. Dr. Kane is extremely careful not to effect the sideburns of the men and places the scars around but under the hairs of the sideburns so as not to disturb the location of the sideburns. When the facelift is completely healed, the scars are well hidden. None of the scars appear directly on the face so the telltale signs of having had a facelift are made imperceptible.

Dr. Kane performs the same procedure as described in the Neck Suspension Lift in which he incorporates both the muscles and lipo- contouring to get a very tight and strong looking neck with a tighter and more youthful refreshed face. Men can look 10-15 years younger and feel good about themselves again whether they are in the job market or the dating world.

In Dr. Kane's experience with performing facelifts on men, he fortunately finds that men tend to recover very quickly and heal with less bruising and swelling than women. Dr. Kane's believes that the thicker nature of men's skin is an added benefit to a faster and easier recovery than the thinner nature of women's skin. Men tend to be able to return to work within 10-14 days while women seem to need an extra third week to recover.
