I had first heard about Dr. Kane in 2006. Three of my friends had gone to him for cosmetic surgery and they all had fantastic results. I had been dieting and exercising for years with no good results. Finally, I had no choice. My husband decided to leave me for a younger woman after 33 years of marriage. I knew I needed to get my old body back and restore my looks to what they once were. I decided to go for a complete body makeover.
On April 8, 2009 I had a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and liposuction on my back, buttocks and outer thighs. I also had the blue peel done on my face. Only 2 weeks later, on April 22, 2009 I had liposuction on my inner thighs, knees, upper arms and neck. I took a major risk having so much done within 2 weeks of each other, but I have to say that Dr. Kane and his staff performed a miracle. Through Dr. Kane's artistry he transformed me from a dowdy, haggard, middle age woman into at least a 15 year younger looking body. I could not believe my eyes. Everything he did was so natural looking and absolutely perfect.
Dr. Kane had compassion and vision unlike any other doctor I have ever known. His wife Lauri was the support and confidence that I needed in such a huge operation ordeal. The staff members; Heather, Holly, Lena, Deb, Nina, Pat ALL OF THEM were the most capable, professional, kind people that I have ever met. I am so grateful for their personal, genuine and considerate care of me. I have never been treated with such care and respect in my life. They all helped renew my self esteem and respect for myself. They all taught me that I have the right to take care of me first, for once in my life. Like so many other woman like me everyone else always came first. All of my earnings, time, love, efforts; everything went to everyone else. For once I put myself first, and I am so glad that I did. I would never have done all of this surgery without the credentials, experience, and compassion of Dr. Kane. His wife and staff are like the paint and brushes of the artist. They all worked together to create a masterpiece.
I never had any complications. The surgery center was absolutely amazing. I was so comfortable. I felt that the cleanliness was well above standard. I never felt endangered or at risk for infection. After the surgery and through my recovery, they were all there. I never felt like I was a bother to anyone. I always and still do feel important. This surgery has literally changed my life. I have self esteem, self respect, and confidence that I have not had for years. Best of all I have energy that never ends. I feel great! I feel amazing! No more aches and pains! I would do it all over again if I had to. It was worth every dollar and pain from being operated on. Even the post surgical pain was minimal. Everything was managed by the doctor and his staff for my maximum comfort and recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Dean Kane and his staff to everyone, it was the best decision I ever made. I have a new future ahead of me and a new body to go with it. I couldn't be more grateful. I truly thank God for Dr. Kane and Lauri and all of the staff.

After two C-sections I could not get rid of the excess bulge caused by the scar tissue. No matter how much I exercised and dieted I couldn't tighten up this area. I decided to have a lower tummy tuck. I had met Dr. Kane ten years ago when I needed reconstructive surgery on my breasts. I found Dr. Kane to be an extremely talented surgeon as well as a very kind person. The staff goes out of its way to be up beat and helpful. The surgery and follow-up went exactly as explained to me. I decided that after several years of yo-yo dieting, gaining, and losing weight that I now needed to do something with the excess skin that was left hanging. I also decided that having surgery in Baltimore with Dr. Dean Kane was a great way for me to jump start myself on the path of healthy living. I mean, who wants to spend all that money and then have it turn to fat again a few years later? Certainly not me, which is why I decided to let Dr. Kane preform an Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and some Liposuction to sculpt the rest of my new and improved figure. Dear Dean and Lauri,
I write this letter to you with pure elation. I think it is extremely important that people are made aware when they change someone's life. In this case, you have changed mine. Please note I am a person of extremely high expectation when it comes to integrity, professionalism, and artistry. I am myself a professional artist and rest my reputation on the "details", precision, and vision of the work being performed. Great results can only be achieved, in my opinion, from someone who lives and breathes their passion.
It was only one week ago today, that Dr. Dean Kane performed liposuction/liposculpture on my entire torso, arms, and inner thighs. I was highly selective when choosing Dr. Kane, as I did my research. I interviewed with some of the "top docs" in the Baltimore/Washington area. Although, I am aware that there is much talent in the cosmetic plastic surgery industry, I chose Dr. Kane mostly because my intuition said this was a doctor/man/artist who is truly passionate about his life's work and has a true eye when it comes to beauty, balance, and authenticity. (I also study a person's hand as a sign of artistry). In addition to Dr. Dean Kane being a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, I chose the practice because of the level of professionalism, warmth, support, and talent that resides within. Your staff is amazing. I commend both of you for what you have created.
Now, more about me. As long as I remember, I have struggled with the shape of my body. I have always worked out, ate relatively well, and maintained a healthy outlook on body. I have never been obese and have only varied 10-15 lbs at any given point in my life. I realize that beauty comes in different shapes, sizes, colors, etc. and that there is a certain inherent beauty that comes from life's experience, children and hormones that we should embrace.
With that said, I was obsessed with what my mind's eye only dreamt of as compared to my reflection in the mirror. To be totally honest, I felt like a stocky, stuffed shirt. Being very broad in the shoulders, coupled with my inherit Russian genes of holding body fat in my midsection, back and flanks – I very seldom felt womanly and delicate. Shopping was not fun for me and I can't remember that last time I actually stood totally naked in from on my husband without the lights dimmed, me moving quickly to pose in a horizontal position, or somehow camouflaging my awkward figure.
Then only one week ago, I traveled 5 hours or so to a place called "Oz". Like Dorothy who wanted to fine her way back home, the Tin Man – a heart, the Lion – courage, and so forth (corny, I know) I have found a body that I love. Mine. I know it is just a beginning for me, and that my journey will be a continuous and loyal respect for how I treat my body- you have given me a beautiful to start again (and a curvy waist!).

From the bodies natural aging process I was very unhappy with my sagging skin on my face and neck. I had a face lift, neck lift, and brow lift. I would like to thank Dr. Dean Kane and his entire staff for giving me outstanding customer service at his Baltimore office. I'm so pleased with my surgery performed by Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Dean Kane. I have always had a huge bulge in my mid section which would not respond to exercise. I had this problem ever since I was a teenager and knew I would never have an hour glass shape. After my second child it became worst and my stomach was the biggest part on my body. Dr. Dean Kane was a God sent. I visited his office in Baltimore Maryland for an unrelated service with Phyllis. While in the lobby I read many of his testimonials and services he provided. So I decided to schedule a consultation. I considered having liposuction in the past but didn't know too much about it. As an African American woman I didn't hear much talk about woman of color having this procedure. I wasn't sure if liposuction was right for me. Boy was I wrong! I met with Dr Lauri Kane and Dr Dean Kane the very next week. They made me feel so comfortable and assured me that I would be pleased with my results. They also explained the entire processed and explained how I was an excellent candidate for liposuction. I still had second thoughts on the day of my surgery. However I put all my trust in the hands of Dr. Kane and his staff. At the time I can't believe I went through with it but I am so happy I did. My recovery was really quick and at 12 weeks post operation, my waist is still shrinking. Every time I look in the mirror and admire how much my waist has gone down, it gets even flatter the next week. My results are amazing with no loose skin. Thank you Dr. Kane for giving me the hour glass shape I always wanted! This has truly been a life changing experience for me.

Dr. Kane is wonderful. From the first consultation visit in Baltimore, I felt at ease and reassured. Whenever I came to the office, Drs. Dean and Lauri Kane gave so much time and individualized attention that I felt like I was their only patient. My comfort was always their number one priority. On that day of my plastic surgery in Baltimore, Dr. Kane held my hand to calm me as I was falling asleep. From the very beginning everyone I have come in contact with in the baltimore office of Dr. Dean Kane has been very pleasant and helpful. A couple of times I called with a question or concern both before and after my cosmetic surgery; I always got an answer and never got the impression that what I was asking was not important. I finally decided to seek help for my problem and I found cosmetic surgeon Dr. Dean Kane in Baltimore. He and Lauri suggested that I have a mini-facelift, which I agreed to and am so glad that I did. Dear Dr. Kane:
Ever since my son was born 32 years ago, I have not been able to get rid of my stomach. No amount of exercising or dieting would eliminate the fact that my stomach just kind of "hung" there. I might mention that this was also a trait with all of the women in my family, e.g., my sister, mother, grandmother, etc. For years I listened to my grandmother, mother, sister and even myself bemoan our fate. We all have a tendency to be obese and we all have played the yo-yo game, you know the one, you lose a tremendous amount of weight only to put it all back and then some. In my lifetime, I have lost at least 60 lbs. four different times. As you can imagine, each time added to the disgusting amount of skin left hanging that was supposed to be my stomach. While I was able to keep the weight off for considerable period of time, invariably, back it came. I was NEVER able to wear the "in" clothes such as the high French cut underwear or bathing suits. I loved it when the style for pants became pleated – that hid a ton of sins! We've all heard this story over and over again. I am over 50 years old now but am simply not about to count myself as old or over the hill. I've still got a LOT to offer. One day I was discussing with my husband how very badly I felt about my stomach and he agreed that it was not a pretty sight and went on to say "Well, why don't you do something about it?" I had toyed with the idea in the back of my mind for years but never actually thought that he would go along with the idea. What's worse, I didn't have the courage to even ask him much less to actually do anything about it. I was so shocked when he said that, I couldn't think how to really go about it fast enough.
I began the question everyone and check the Internet for plastic surgeons in Baltimore. I visited three different Doctors, questioned them all and even asked my regular physician if he thought I was crazy. He stated that obviously, I had given this a lot of thought and that I should go for it. That is all I needed to hear!
As you know, I ultimately ended up not only having a "tummy tuck" but a "body lift". I didn't tell very many people what I was going to do for fear of criticism and well-meaning busy bodies trying to talk me out of it. Thus, I went back to work and pretended to have lost more weight over a lengthy holiday (I had already intentionally lost about 60 lbs. just before the surgery). People simply could not get over how good I looked. There were comments about the new person who came to work there! Guys actually told me I was looking awfully "Svelte" these days. I didn't know guys actually knew and used that word! My brothers (also unknowing) were so amazed they kept saying I looked ten years younger! My sister (who does know) is constantly telling me how gorgeous I look but now she hates me! People are constantly stopping me to tell me how fabulous I look these days! What an ego booster!
I have to tell you that I am so grateful that I didn't let my very considerable fear stop me from my plastic surgery in Baltimore. I cannot get over the difference in the way I look and act. I look fabulous in many of the clothes I could never think of wearing before the plastic surgery. Where shopping used to be a chore, it is quite a joy right now (of course, my husband won't thank you for that!).
While I was never the shy retiring type, I have so much more confidence that I can't get over how very different I act and feel at work. It is as though the sky is the limit! Things seem so much easier for me now. It is so very true that when you know you look good, you feel good. There are no words that can express my gratitude and somehow a simple thank you does not seem adequate. Please accept this letter as a testimonial that you may share with other women who are uncertain and as fearful as I was. Once again, thank you for a new lease on life!

In October of 2009, I had breast augmentation in Baltimore and as a result, I have much more confidence. I was warned of how painful the after surgery experience would be, but to my surprise, it was not nearly as painful as I thought it would be. It was a pleasant experience. From the time of my consultation with Dr. Dean Kane to after surgery healing, the staff members were friendly, patient, helpful, and very compassionate. They were ALL a pleasure to work with and make me feel extremely comfortable. After cosmetic surgery in Baltimore I notices an amazing increase in my amount of confidence and self-esteem. At first I thought that surgery was a silly idea, but I couldn't be more happy with my decision to have the surgery. I'm finally not ashamed of my body.
I am 61yrs. old, never had a good self image and even more so after having 2 children. and 2 surgeries on my stomach. I was scheduled for a gynecological procedure that involved harvesting fascia from the abdomen. The surgeon inquired whether I would be interested in having an abdominoplasty done at that time. I saw Dr. Kane who was willing to work with the gynecologist. In addition to the abdominoplasty, Dr. Kane felt that liposuction of several areas would give a better overall result. To have the gynecologic and cosmetic procedure entailed 6 hours of surgery. The recovery period was a full 4 weeks. It was rough, but everything went smoothly. The results are amazing. I look better and fit in clothing I haven't worn for years. The staff was excellent in preparing me preoperatively and helping me to get through the post op course. They were knowledgeable and compassionate. If one is committed to having cosmetic surgery, Dr. Kane is the surgeon who will help you through your surgery and has the technical expertise to obtain an outstanding result.
I have always felt disproportionate when it came to my body, my breasts were always small and after breast feeding two children they became even smaller. After having a friend recommend Dr. Kane, I decided to have a consultation for breast augmentation in 2010. After meeting with Dr. Kane and his staff, I was put at ease and felt very comfortable with knowing that my best interest was at heart and that they could offer me what I was in search of.
My overall surgical experience was wonderful. Everything was explained thoroughly and the day of surgery I was very relaxed and even excited to know what I was going to have the breasts I had always wanted. When I awoke from surgery, my pain was very minimal and I knew what to expect in the upcoming days. From the very first visit to present time, I have been very pleased with all of the staff. The nurses, receptionists and support staff have always been very helpful and understanding and were very in tune to my needs and expectations.
Make the decision to have breast augmentation has changed my life in so many positive ways. I am now able to wear clothes I never could and my self confidence is incredible. I’m no longer hiding behind baggy shirts and push up bras! As far as I am concerned, Dr. Kane is paramount in his profession. I know he takes pride in his work and he always puts his patients first. My breasts are full and natural looking and I finally feel feminine. Words can’t explain how happy I am with the experience and results I achieved by having this surgery and I would do all over again.
